Local Governing Committee

Eddie Peake is one of two Councillors who represents the ward of Wayfield and Weedswood.  He was elected in May 2023.

Eddie is a trustee on the Chatham Charities Trust, a member of the Regeneration, Culture and Environment Overview and Scrutiny Committee, the Licensing Committee, Planning Committee and the Health and Wellbeing Board.

Eddie was an elected Councillor on the London Borough of Redbridge from 1994 – 2002. During this period, he was a Governor at his children’s school, Mayespark Primary School.

His daughter had learning needs and therefore, was statemented as a child.

Eddie has taught children with SEN and developed a particular interest and desire to help and support statemented children so that they can fulfil their true potential.

Currently, Eddie works for Sanctuary Supported Living giving support to residents who have a range of different mental health related diagnosis.

Previously, Eddie ran his own business and is aware of the importance of managing resources effectively.

Eddie recently joined the University of the 3rd Age, where he enjoys play reading and days out.  He is a member of Walderslade Sings which is based at St. Philip & St James Church.

Other interests are rugby, music, theatre, and reading. Eddie believes in the importance of Wellbeing and looks forward to many more walks in the countryside.

​Mike is an experienced professional with a strong work ethic and proven track record of achievement. Particularly strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to deliver through others.

Mike recently retired after more than 6 years as the Director of Infrastructure & Finance at a Special School & Children’s Home based in Kent. During this time, he was responsible for Finance, HR, Premises, Health & Safety, ICT, Training, Administration, Catering, Housekeeping and Community Engagement. This has provided him with a wide breadth of knowledge, working with local authorities, regulators, and other partners to help improve the provision for young people with severe complex needs.

Prior to this, Mike worked 33 years in the Financial Services industry in a multitude of senior management roles in performance management, business development, operations, and marketing.

He is a governor at a Kent Foundation Special School, where he is the Chair of the Strategy & Resources Committee and Finance Governor. He now works part-time as an independent consultant, mainly supporting children’s homes. He is married with a daughter and has lived locally his whole life. Mike enjoys sport, running a local table tennis team, travelling, socialising, music, gardening and reading. He now wants to share his knowledge and experience to help improve the lives and futures of children.

Caron began her career as a mainstream teacher, specialising in languages and mathematics. Her passion for supporting children with additional needs and who experience challenges and barriers to learning led her to transition into Alternative Provision (AP), where she has since built a wealth of experience in inclusive education.

As Headteacher at The Rowans, she led a team which transformed alternative provision in Medway with the first Outstanding Ofsted in 2015 and subsequently as Executive Headteacher in 2022.

The secondary AP provision has since expanded to include a Primary SEN provision to support children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. She has established a highly valued and recognised behaviour outreach service, further enhancing the support available to pupils and schools across Medway.

The Beeches Primary Free school is still in the development stage and she continues to lead on this whilst taking the decision to join her existing Trust to the Howard Academy Trust.  Within THAT she has taken on the role of Director of Inclusion, AP, and SEND. In this strategic leadership position, she is committed to driving improvements in inclusive practices and ensuring that all children, regardless of their needs, have access to the support and education they deserve.
