COVID-19 Guidelines Update - 01/04/2022

1 April 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

As you are aware the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care made further changes to the measures and guidance for managing Covid-19 with effect from today – April 1st 2022, which are detailed here: www.gov.uk/government/news/government-sets-out-next-steps-for-living-with-covid

I am writing to explain how these changes will impact on Bradfields Academy from the start of Term 5.

Lateral flow Testing

Free COVID-19 tests will continue to be available for specific groups only which include eligible patients and NHS staff. For all other groups the universal testing ends today, Friday 1 April.

This means that Bradfields Academy will no longer be providing lateral flow tests to students and staff. We are no longer required to undertake twice weekly lateral flow tests.

Covid-19 symptoms and infections

The new approach to people displaying symptoms or having tested positive is as follows:

  • adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and they no longer have a high temperature.
  • children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school, college or childcare when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend.
  • adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious.
  • For children and young people aged 18 and under, with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days.

If your child is unwell and you are unsure as to when your child should return to the academy, please do contact reception on 01634 683990.

Thank you for your support

Yours sincerely

Ms M Sweetlove
