Students Due to Complete Qualifications in July 2020
These are difficult times for all students and their families. I understand that trying to access resources and provide home education for students can be very difficult particularly if students are part way through qualifications. I wanted to write to you to give an overview of the latest update from the government regarding qualifications.
At Bradfields we are currently dealing with 98 different qualifications across 10 Awarding Bodies so as I am sure you can appreciate getting the details correct for all of these has been time consuming and at times quite difficult.
The overall message is quite clear though, and that is, regardless of level and type of accreditation, no student that is due to complete qualifications this year will be disadvantaged because of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. Students will be assessed by teachers based on work they have already completed and the progress they were predicted to make by the end of the year.
The government currently intend to adhere to the usual timeline for the publication of results. The results day will still be in August, despite initially planning on bringing this forward. If this were to change we will let you know.
No student is expected to be taught examination or qualification material at home by parents or carers. They are expected to access work from the subject in order to maintain their skills and interest. To this end there is a variety of material on the website, along with links enabling access to other sites. BBC Bitesize has just launched new material and more is coming online daily.
As has been previously stated in communication we know that, due to their complex needs, not all of our students will be settled completing work at home and so Life Skills work and experiences are just as valuable as academic lessons.
I wish you well in these strange times!
